Estes Space Shuttle 1/162th (vintage)

This vintage Estes Space Shuttle model rocket kit (#1284) is a highly prized, out-of-production classic originally introduced in 1976 as part of the "Master Modeler" series.
1:162 scale, the kit is widely considered one of the most unique—and challenging—builds in Estes history.
The full stack (Orbiter, External Tank, and the Solid Rocket Boosters) launches as a single unit using an off-center 18mm engine mount located in the bottom of the External Tank.
At apogee, the engine's ejection charge ignites, releasing the Orbiter while the main booster stack (External Tank and SRBs) deploys a parachute to drift safely to Earth. The Orbiter releases its elevons to gracefully glide back down to the ground.
